Gillian Robbins | PhD
Gillian Robbins, PhD, is the founder, president and sole professional therapist at Transformations Counselling Services. Over the past 20+ years, Transformations Counselling Services has been dedicated to providing counselling and consulting services primarily to professionals, women, teens, couples, and families across Windsor and Essex County, as well as Troy, Michigan, and Houston, Texas. While Dr. Robbins addresses many client issues, anxiety is a key area of specialization and interest. As a result, in addition to using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), Existentialism, and Mindfulness are the core components of her theoretical framework and practice.
Since 2010, Gillian Robbins, PhD, has experienced how implementing and adopting a mindfulness attitude and lifestyle has facilitated herself and her clients in managing anxiety and, more specifically, types of performance anxiety (school, work, personal and athletic).
While at Wayne State University, Dr. Robbins had the privilege of sharing Mindfulness by providing educational workshops to the university community, as well as to individual and group counselling students. Today, Transformations Counselling Services is evolving to offer similar services to residents in Ontario and the State of Michigan.
Gillian Robbins, PhD, graduated with a PhD in Counselling (specialization – Rehabilitation Counselling) in 2013, and a Masters of Arts in Rehabilitation Counselling and Community Inclusion (2002) from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. Ms. Robbins also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Windsor, Ontario (1998). Between 2010 and 2013, Ms. Robbins served as a Counsellor at Wayne State University – Counselling and Psychological Services. In the course of her clinical career, Gillian Robbins, PhD, has rendered personal and rehabilitation services to children, adolescents, adults and those with physical, emotional and mental disabilities.
Dr. Gillian Robbins’ qualifications include:
- Ph.D. in Counselling
- M.A. in Rehabilitation Counselling
- B.A. in Psychology (Honours)
- Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC)
- Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor (CRC)
- Ontario Marriage and Family Therapy Association member (OMFTA)
- Trained at a Masters and Ph.D. level in advanced counselling techniques and skills, progressive and uniquely shaped within the context of the field of counselling
- Continued education in areas of treatment attained at seminars, workshops, conferences, courses, self-study and research
- 20 years of experience working as a helping professional with children, adolescents and adults, including those with disabilities.
